The 4 Waves Of Freedom Of Speech

The 4 Waves Of Freedom Of Speech

1st wave (nonexistent)

People are ‘entitled to freedom of speech’ so long as it doesn’t break the peace, encourages other people to commit crimes, defames etc.

People: Lee hsien loong, Singapore government, most singaporeans, communists, fascists

2nd wave (seditious)

It’s alright to offend (politicians, celebrities etc.) unless it concerns race or religion

People: Most people in Europe, most pro-opposition supporters in Singapore. Most ex ‘supporters’ of Amos Yee

3rd wave (the 1st amendment)

It’s alright to say anything as long as it doesn’t incite violence

People: Most people from the West. Most people who are sane. Most supporters of Amos Yee.

4th wave(absolutist)

You should be able to say whatever you want, even if it incites violence, and not be punished by law. Therefore if Hitler existed today, he should not be sentenced.

People: Amos Yee

Which wave of freedom of speech are you? :S

“22. Quran (9:29) – “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” “People of the Book” refers to Christians and Jews. According to this verse, they are to be violently subjugated, with the sole justification being their religious status. Verse 9:33 tells Muslims that Allah has charted them to make Islam “superior over all religions.” This chapter was one of the final “revelations” from Allah and it set in motion the tenacious military expansion, in which Muhammad’s companions managed to conquer two-thirds of the Christian world in the next 100 years. Islam is intended to dominate all other people and faiths.”

  2. “4th wave.”
As I see it, blaming your actions on someone else’s words is naught but copping out of acknowledging/accepting responsibility. It simply doesn’t make sense, and it’s cowardly.

    Hey Amos,

Just wondering what you think about Minds.com. People say this is the social media website for those who believe in freedom of speech.

Somewhere between 3rd and 4th wave. Allow me to explain:

It is not permissible to incite violence against those who have done you no harm and who wish you no harm. They should not have to wonder if you intend on carrying through with your threat of violence. They have the right to self-preservation, therefore, they may act upon your death threat and take you out.

It is permissible to incite violence against those who incite violence, and this includes those who are violent. Death threats that are plausible may be answered with violence. For example, somebody who pulls a gun on you communicates his intention to harm you. You may respond with violence. A member of the mafia who promises to kill you is likely to actually kill you. Therefore, initiation of violence against this mafia member is morally permitted. Please note that just because something is morally permitted, that does not mean it is wise.

The underlining moral principle behind my position is this: what you do unto others, others may do unto you.

Amos yee, I heard you quit school better you join school and have a great productive life ahead. On your prosecution of insulting religion, ask singapore court to see how the koran directs violence against non-believers and women, if this is fact then allah should be condemned for his doctrine even by singapore law, how can they arrest you.

I hate your abusive language which degrades women like f**k, M**F**…….. even though you do’nt mean it, but you should refrain from it, you are in no way worse then the muslim kids who join ISIS, you are rational.

You mentioned you do’nt condemn any speech which directly incites for violence……….that’s not correct, any speech which directly asks for killing an individual or taking away his lively hood should be punishable. But speaking about dead / god / religion…….definiely not condemnable.
